María García loved sharing the Aesop fable The Tortoise and the Hare with her daughter. This story, which teaches us slow and steady wins the race, uses sound effects using the piano and tempo to show how fast or slow the characters move. María narrates the story in Spanish and Sarah narrates the story in English. You can stream both stories on Friday, August 5th down below.

María began piano studies in her native Puerto Rico at the age of four. At the age of ten she made her debut with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra.
As an active chamber musician and soloist, Ms. García has performed throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Venezuela, Tunisia, Puerto Rico, and beyond. She’s a passionate teacher and musical coach she has served on the faculties of the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division, the Stony Brook Summer Chamber Music Festival, and more. María is also All Classical Portland’s 2022 Artist in Residence.
